Crossroads: Where coffee and culture connect
Crossroads is a coffee shop located in the heart of Appalachian State University’s campus, and I have quickly found out that this coffee shop is the “go-to” place for students here. It rests on the first floor in Plemmons Student Union where it is very convenient to stop in and caffeinate in between classes. Inside is a large room with multiple tables and chairs, and also cozy chairs on the sides for more comfortably seating. It’s a good place for studying, hanging out with friends, relaxing with a book, or even a good place for a coffee date. They play oldies as the background music, and have good lighting to make it feel more personal and cozy than your average Starbucks. What I liked most about this coffee shop is the vibe they gave off, although it is crowded with the line outside the door, they are fast and appreciate all their customers.
A cool thing about this coffee shop is the live music and entertainment they offer. They have a jazz night and also a an opportunity for people to sing at open mic. They have a mini grand piano and a place for people to bring their instruments and sing for the customers. They have a large variety of food, such as muffins, sandwiches and smoothies. They also offer a special deal where you can bring your own coffee mug and get a refill for only $1.45. (Not bad for a college student!)
Their logo is “Where coffee and culture connect.” Crossroads serve sanctuary coffee, whats special about these beans is the how they are grown, and they add a lot more flavor to the coffee than the average cup of Joe. As stated from their website, "Sanctuary sources only arabica beans grown on shade-tree coffee plantations along the migratory flight path from North America to South America. Because the coffee is grown in the shade, the beans mature more slowly, therefore producing a sweeter, more elegant cup." This place is definitely worth stopping by while on campus.
